1750

The story of Weckman begins in the mid-18th century, when blacksmiths created the first Weckman products.

1900

This work continues century after century.

1955

The first heated factory hall and an unheated storage unit are built.

1955

Used truck and bus chassis are converted into tractor trailers for agricultural use or timber transport.

1962

Weckmanin Konepaja Oy was founded.

1962

Weckman trailers are first exported to, e.g., South America.

1967

The manufacturing of the first roof profile, W-2 (which is still in production) begins.

1969

The industrial manufacturing of tipping trailers begins through a cooperation agreement with a central corporation.

1971

Exports begin with tipping trailers to Sweden and later to the other Nordic countries and Europe.

1974

Staff accommodation is built near the factory.

1978

As the steel sheet production quickly grew and represented an increasing share of the turnover, new production facilities and raw material storage units were built for the production of roofs and wall sheets.

1981

Manufacturing of self-supporting steel frames for storage halls for agricultural and industrial use begins.

1981

A marketing company is founded in Sweden to increase exports.

1981

The first robot was introduced in the production of steel parts. The manufacturing of composite sheets begins in the same year.

1983

A profiling factory for roof and wall sheets was founded in Iisalmi.

1985

The manufacturing of tile pattern sheets begins. They have remained very popular ever since.

1986

On the 23rd of May, the company experiences a disaster as its trailer factory is completely destroyed in a fire. In November of the same year, a new and modern trailer factory is opened.

1986

The company buys the majority share of Levypyörä Oy. The same year, the company is awarded a national entrepreneurship award.

1990

The share of exported products grows quickly during the 1990s, and in 1997, the name of the company was changed to Weckman Steel Oy. A new generation of owners takes over the company.

1990

Weckman delivers products to their customers quickly and securely using their own continuously updated transport equipment.

1999

At the end of the decade, the company is given the ISO-9001 quality certification, which guarantees top-quality roof and wall products.

2000

In the 1990s and 2000s, the company completes several significant construction projects to expand the production and storage facilities at the factory.

2003

The manufacturing of the interlocking roof sheet Elegantti begins. Elegantti has since become very popular.

2005

A combustion facility for solvents from the paint shop was built. Thanks to this, the environmental impact has been significantly reduced.

2008

A pellet heating plant is built. It replaces the oil heating system of the large factory halls, significantly reducing the company’s carbon footprint.

2010

As demand keeps growing, the machine park of the company is continuously renewed and expanded in order to keep manufacturing competitive products.

2012

Weckman Steel Oy celebrates its 50th anniversary.

2014

The manufacturing of the new self-supporting W-130/950 profile begins.

2015

ABB’s robot for side and part manufacturing of trailers.

2016

The new Progantti lock seam line to Vierumäki. New line for manufacturing brush strips. Implementation of the trailer equipment hall extension.

2017

Three new welding robots for trailer manufacturing. New Progantti lock seam production line for the Iisalmi factory. New ecological Greencoat coatings for use in roofing products.

2018

Eight new production lines for Weckman Group’s JHW-Profiles factory in Germany.

2019

The design of the trailer collection based on ecology and efficiency has started. Hall Thermally insulated halls as a standard product for the product group.

2020

2020 The company’s entire enterprise resource planning system will be renewed. Weckman Steel Oy’s largest single steel delivery to industry in history.

2021

A new production line for steel ducks is put into operation. Renewed trailer collection for the market.

2022

60th anniversary year.

2023

The first recycled SSAB Zero™ steel roofing sheets were profiled at the Vierumäki factory. Watch the video on YouTube here.
